Thank you, Steven, this analogy is powerful and cuts deep. As you allude, at the centre of this civilising project lies the colonial concept of property, not merely as ownership, but as a racialised instrument of control. The so-called recognition of Indigenous humanity has always been contingent on relinquishing sovereignty and conforming to the settler’s property regime. Native title (occupancy) is a perfect example: a legal mechanism that contains us as ‘users’ within their framework, never as sovereigns outside it. It’s not a break from terra nullius but its shadow, an afterlife that continues to discipline our existence through the settler’s idea of what counts as ‘human.’
Chillingly sad. Excellent work, Steve, calling out the "cruel and unusual punishment", which when i just seacrhed is part of the eighth amendment, further adding to the atrocious hypocrises you unravel. Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz quotes the revered American poet Walt Whitman in her book "An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States": "The nigger, like the Injun, will be eliminated; it is the law of the races, history...A superior grade of rats come come and then all the minor rats are cleared out." And that's part of being a member of a "noble race" in the "New World", which is what Coulter regurgitated. Also i would add, with your bracket style: “human” resources[mined from Earth]. Don't pledge allegiance to the American flagellation!
"I read the news today, oh boy" ( Beatles, A Day in the Life lyrics).
While listening to “news” pundits, the word "flagellation" popped into me mind, and now here it is again.
Are there borders in the infinite ocean of consciousness?
Some originary peoples' prophetic (past, present, future)knowledge narratives, speak, of a “collective return” of life giving Beauty Ways and that "return" comes with the responsibility of living Spirit-Reality thinking.
"Unveiling the domination code" Steve Newcomb, "secret spells of the english language" Laurel Airica, "english is a dead language" Tiokasin Ghosthorse, ...and many others speak to the issues created by the weaponization of English language thinking.
Dead? Death is expressed in the Kill Bills dom-I-nation thinks of, writes and enacts in various forms to "legalize" murder and ecocide. Dead? my interpretation is because the structure of English language thought and consciousness may not have or may have originated in emotion-all-intelligence (long ago), meaning, All Life has Energy in Motion Intelligence, but got interrupted/colonized/dominated/controlled and abused.
Domination thinking created Rules for english to propagandize, control and dominate the non-linear, the multi-dimensional spirit reality of life. The word “legalize” is subject [under the rule of] the noun’s [domination] action (verb) - and that "action" is energy in motion under the noun's idea or intent of superiority[domination].
Artists of Life like to break those "rules".
There are many aspects to language and definitions: origins, community, culture, intent, context, relevance, etc. "At the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit. And that center is really everywhere. It is within each of us..." Black Elk.
John Trudell was a deep thinker and artist of life about "what does it mean to be a human being?", always, giving, invitations, to ride into the meaning and memory of "being" - Spirit reality.
Taku Wakan Skan Skan.
Since time immemorial,
ancestars, grandmothers, grandfathers,
of the dreaming of creationing,
give Life to her, a song,
a runner, a messenger, among many song lines,
weaving beauty ways cycles of life giving,
giving life.
Was interrupted by the whip, the stick, the bullet gun,
into the bush and back again,
she run,
listening to life songs dialogue,
showing, healing, freeing, from the
interruption.
Protecting, and weaving, with original instruction,
painting, knowing, her self within the song lines, older than time,
from the Heart of Quetzalcoatl,
Heart of Anpao Wichahpi
Heart of the Rainbow Serpent,
Heart of the Lotus Sutra,
Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth,
and so flows the heart beat drum songs
of the dreaming of creationing.

wonderful additions, April, with "dom-I-nation" an accurately clever portrayal of the egoic participation. As for "flaggelation", the more i have heard about "domination", the more i think that "torture" is an aspect/side-effect/experience of that. And wonderful positive/true side with: "emotion-all-intelligence"!
thx, too! Am about 100 pages into a book Steve cites: "A Violent Evangelism" by Luis N. Rivera, disturbingly fascinating, tho lots of quotes/references so i paused the reading for a while.
Despite your cogent analysis, the 'answer' seems to have eluded you. The FACT of the matter is that our entire species was, for thousands of generations, living in the kind of harmony with our surroundings as the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island were doing upon the arrival of Europeans. While it is more than understandable to point out the contradictory nature of European thought, the ultimate 'truth' is not that all Indigenous people were peaceful, angelic and 'noble savages,' but rather that our entire species for countless millennia simply lived in ways that 'worked.' And yes, some of those ways may well seem barbaric, but they were SUSTAINABLE.

thank you Mankh, also good insight "aspect/side-effect/experience" & that violence is an intentional characteristic of domination.

Christianity is and has always been a bullshit fairy tale for moral cripples, used to brutalize the world for their economic greed.

Yes... 'sustainable'....
as for 'barbaric', I recall Engels wrote something along the lines that when the 'barbarians' overran Rome, the people greeted them as liberators....
Which was my point. I guess I wasn't clear. Thanks for doing so.
